Building a Law Firm Website Around Community, Trust, and a Different Approach to Conflict

Sanpete Law Group

When attorney Travis Marker decided to open a new law practice in Gunnison, Utah, he wasn’t simply expanding his business into another market. The law firm was part of a much larger vision he has for the community.

Travis has spent time getting to know Gunnison’s business owners, meeting with local leaders, attending business meetings, and learning about the challenges facing the town. He sees tremendous value and history in this small Central Utah community and wants to be part of revitalizing it. His hope is to encourage people to invest in Gunnison, strengthen local businesses, and help create a thriving Main Street and community center once again.

Sanpete Law Group would become part of that investment.

The Challenge

The website needed to establish a new law firm in a rural market while immediately building credibility and trust.

It also needed to feel like it belonged in Sanpete County.

Rather than creating a generic law firm website filled with courthouse imagery and stock photographs of attorneys in suits, I wanted to understand what Travis was trying to accomplish and build the website around that.

Recognizing the Gold

As I learned more about Travis and his approach to practicing law, one thing stood out.

Travis is a problem solver.

With more than 20 years of legal experience, he understands how expensive, stressful, and traumatic prolonged legal conflict can become. His goal isn’t to generate more conflict because more litigation means more billable legal work. Whenever appropriate, he encourages clients to consider mediation and other practical ways of resolving disputes before taking matters directly to court.

He wants to help people solve their problems, preserve their resources, and move forward.

That philosophy became one of the most important things to communicate through the Sanpete Law Group brand.

His 20+ years of experience and more than 50 positive Google reviews provide important evidence of his credibility. But the real value is what he chooses to do with that experience.

Translating the Vision Into the Website

The website was designed to connect Travis’s professional experience with the community he wants to serve.

We used authentic photography of the Sanpete County area rather than relying primarily on generic legal imagery. The dark blue and green color palette reflects the open land and rural environment while maintaining the trust and professionalism expected from a law firm.

The opening section quickly communicates what Sanpete Law Group does and includes a contact form directly in the banner, making it easy for someone facing a legal problem to reach out without searching through the website for the next step.

The site introduces Travis, establishes his experience and client reputation, explains the legal services available to the community, and communicates his preference for resolving conflict in practical and humane ways whenever possible.

Content is structured so visitors can understand the most important information quickly and choose when they want to learn more.

More Than a Law Firm Website

Sanpete Law Group is a good example of why I believe building a website starts with understanding the business behind it.

If I had approached this project simply as “build a website for an attorney,” we could have created a perfectly professional law firm website.

But it would have missed the story.

Travis isn’t simply opening another law office. He is investing his experience in a community he believes has value and potential. And within his legal practice, he isn’t looking for ways to prolong people’s conflicts. He wants to help solve them.

Once I understood that, my job was to make sure the website helped other people understand it too.

That is the gold.
